A second renovation in the historic McLeod Building serves as an Edmonton office, but a straightforward transition to studio apartment was considered during the design. Concealing the building’s internal structure and services necessitated a shift from cartesian norms. The resulting core of whitewashed ash walls and cabinetry envelops the bathroom, clad entirely in back-painted glass. This localized and intensely detailed intervention stands opposite the building’s historic assemblies, pared back so as to recede.
